Artificial Intelligence for Beginners
Learn the basic concepts; derive a description and an email draft from a fictional product note, then check the result against the source.
Use an information card for your first exercise: The product is a ceramic mug. Capacity is 350 ml. There are three color options; color names and price are not provided. The care recommendation is hand washing. Your outputs must not add information that is not in the source. Reading does not require AI Lab membership; external tool accounts and free plan limits are separate. The duration is an estimate for the first round. The linked external courses in full are not included in the stated practice time.
What are artificial intelligence and LLMs?
Learn that the model produces a draft from the text you provide, and that fact-checking is separate. Separate the four known facts in the card above and the unknown price/color names into two lists. The expected output is four evidence-based facts and two missing fields; do not fill them in by guessing from the internet or the model.
Write your first prompt
Give the card to the assistant you choose. Prompt: Write a product description of at most 70 words using only this card. Do not invent the unknown price and color names; put them in a separate list of questions. Save the first output and your corrected version. Acceptance: the four facts are preserved, no price/color name has been added, and the description does not exceed 70 words.
Which tool is used for what?
Compare two of ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini that you can access using the same card and the same prompt. Record the time, missing information, fabricated information, and number of manual corrections. If you reach an account limit, save your prompt and continue later; do not draw a general conclusion about the best tool from a single example.
First use in daily work
Fictional email: I would like to order the mug. Could I learn the price and colors? Ask the assistant for a short reply draft stating only that the price and color information will be requested. No unknown value or delivery promise should be added. Check the text before sending; the output is an email draft.
Mini project: reusable assistant template
Write a template consisting of input, task, information to preserve, unknowns, and output format. Try a second time by removing the capacity information from the card. This time, capacity should also be separated as unknown. Collect the two inputs, two outputs, and the error/correction note in one file; do not use real customer data.
